| AEROSOL Useage -- Tips & TECHNIQUES Observation of the following rules will assure professional results: All aerosol spraying should be done at room temperatures of 70°F. Shake the can vigorously up and down until the agitator balls inside are loose and continue for one (1) minute then, swirl the can in a circular motion for one (1) minute. This will blend all ingredients properly. Always clear the nozzle after use by turning the can upside down and spraying until nothing but propellant is coming from the nozzle. Also, be careful to observe the following safety precautions: Never spray in basements or any room that has an open flame or gas fired appliances because aerosol products are flammable. Always spray in a well ventilated area for safety and health reasons. Aerosol products perform best when used within 12 months from date purchase. AEROSOL USE -- ON SMALL TOPS OR SIDES Use the following method for spraying small, flat areas such as end table tops or nightstand tops. Start from the front (section nearest to you) and work towards the back. Always activate the aerosol for each stroke off the piece moving onto the area being finished. This method eliminates overspray and puddling of the lacquer. Spray in short bursts, stopping at the end of each stroke. Never spray continuously. Best results are obtained with several light coats in both directions as opposed to one heavy coat. |
AEROSOL USE for TOUCH-UPS Several light coats will dry faster than one heavy coat. Use SPRAY-LAC PROFESSIONAL FINISH TONERS to adjust patch areas where pigmented toners were used by the manufacturer of the piece being repaired or where a bit of hiding of the damage will help. Use CLASSIC VARI-TONE PROFESSIONAL FINISH TONERS to adjust patch areas where no toners were used, or the toners were dyes rather than pigments. Star aerosols generally do not leave overspray, but, in cases where colors were fogged on, overspray on nitrocellulose finishes can be eliminated by spraying the area with Blush Eliminator aerosol #S83-1491. On areas that will require rubbing; use Heavy Bodied Sealer #82-VT15 & Lacquer #82-VT2O - gloss, VT21 - satin, VT22 - flatt. or Pre-Catalyzed Sealer #S82-1690 and Lacquer #S82-1640 - gloss, 1644 -satin, 1642 - flatt, 1643 - dead-flatt.
Avoid storage in vans or automoble trunks. Aerosols will be too cool to operate properly in the winter. In the summer heat there is the possibility of the aerosol over heating and exploding. °°°°° |
