CONTROLLED PENETRATION STAINING
This is a process used mostly for soft woods to insure an even stain penetration as opposed to dark blotches near knots.

The key to controlling stain penetraton
is in sealing the wood before applying
STAR GRAIN PERFECT (Pigment Wiping STAIN.

Materials required:

1. Any Star lacquer sealer, gloss lacquer,
and choice of shen of topcoat lacquer.

2. GRAIN-PERFECT STAIN of any desired color
(NU-GLAZE GLAZING LIQUID
or optional, Production Glaze)

3. Sandpaper.

4. Any desired rubbing materials.

NOTE:
The topcoats of lacquer can be any sheen desired.
It is also possible to rub the gloss lacquer to any sheen specification.

NOTE:
Star NU-GLAZE GLAZING LIQUID
or STAR Production Glaze may be used in place of GRAIN-PERFECT STAIN especially when darker tones are desired

PROCEDURE:
1. Apply lacquer sealer cut one to two with thinner.

2. Dry 1 hour.

3. Scuff sand with #280A stearated sandpaper.

4. Stain with GRAIN-PERFECT STAIN,
heavily or sparingly to desired effect.

5. Dry 1/2 hour.

6. Apply lacquer sanding sealer.

7. Dry 1 hour.

8. Scuff sand as #3.

9. Apply gloss lacquer.

10. Dry 4 hours.

11. Apply choice of sheen topcoat lacquer.

12. Let gloss lacquer dry a minimum of
24 hours before rubbing.
