Concentrate Dyes for Staining Bare Wood & Tinting Lacquer *** To MAKE a WORKING SOLUTION: The solvent based MEK dye concentrate may be mixed into Lacquer Thinner, Lacquer Retarder, or a blend of the two for application. A larger percentage of retarder will; help penetration, allow more working time, and help eliminate lap marks. The MEK may also be dispersed into Acetone. MEK dyes WILL NOT disperse into Mineral Sprits, Paint Thinner or other hydrocarbon solvents. Pre-wetting a wood surface (just prior to dye application) with an even light application of the solvent used in the dye will help achieve even an color and uniform penetration into the fibers.
