GRAIN-PERFECT Stains
Oil Based Pigment Wiping Stain

Star GRAIN-PERFECTStains are available inthe
most popularcolors beingusedin the wood
furniture and kitchen cabinet industrytoday.
These highly versatile pigmentedstains canbe
applied byspraying, brushing, dipping, andwiping.
They offer good light fade resistance properties and
are the easiest type of staintoapply andcontrol.
Afterstaining the woodsurface,they may be wiped
cleantoachieve the desiredcolor development.
The longerthe time before wiping,the stronger
the stain colorwill be. To obtaindeep rich colors on
lighterwoods, applyanappropriate colorNGRdye
stain tothe woodfirst.

Make your own Stain Colors
byadding StarO-J Tinting Colors or
HuIs No.866colorants tothe 43-181 StainBase.
Pigment LOAD;Do Not exceed the following:
O-Jcolors --Do Not Exceed 24 Oz per gallon of Stain Base.
Do Not add more than 12 Oz. per gallon of premixed stain.

If a deeper color is needed than these stain mixes allow ,
dye the raw wood first with a NGR dye stain

Reducer:
43-181 StainBase (add stainbase to lighten a
stain colorand maintainthe workingproperties
and properviscosity.)DoNot Reduce withsolvents
(unless absolutely necessaryfor spray application)
as you will loose control,workingqualities,and
color consistency.

Retarder:
43-182 StainRetarder will extenddrying
and allow more wiping time.

Suitable for use with nitrocellulose lacquer,varnish,
shellac, solvent and waterborne urethanes,water
borne lacquers,fillers, STAR stains andglazes,

Finish System

Wood Preparation:
Finish sand with# 120- #180 grit sandpaper
Woodshould be dust free with a moisture
content between6-8%.

Notes:
All products should be stirred thoroughlybefore
using andbe continuously agitatedwhile inuse to
insure product consistency from start to finish.
The colorselectedshouldbe pretestedon the
wood tobe finishedunderapplicationconditions.
Wipingofthe product isrecommendedwithin
a few minutes ofapplication.
Longerflashtimes result in a stronger, darkercolor.
Speciesofwood, sanding andmoisture content
affect the strengthandcolorofa stain. To obtain
deep richcolors on lighter woods, applyan
appropriate colorNGRdye staintothe wood first.

Clean-Up:
Equipment maybe cleanedwithVM&P Naptha,
Mineral Spirits or Toluene.
